If you suffer with dizziness at work then try to use these three easy tips to cope with it:
- Stabilize yourself – If you start to feel a dizzy spell coming on, you should stabilize yourself immediately. Sit down, or stand still if you are in motion. If a colleague is available, ask them to get you a chair. Make sure they are aware that you are struggling with dizziness/vertigo so when the event occurs they can offer you the best possible assistance.
- Find a focal point – Once you have stabilized yourself, it is important that you alleviate the disorientation. Focus on a object on the wall (but not nothing moving such as a clock), or an object on your desk. By focusing on an object your body may regain its equilibrium and the blurred vision and dizziness sensation could pass.
- Eat Healthy Snacks – Choose to snack on fruit and vegetables at work instead of chips and chocolate. Sweet and salty snacks may affect your inner ear fluid which may make you unstable.
Dealing with dizziness at work can be extremely frustrating. Make sure that you let the others around you know what you are going through. Listen to your body, and if you feel a dizzy spell coming on use the above tips to cope.
